Attar poetry texts
Document
These are selected extracts from 'Attar's most famous epic poem, The Conference of the Birds (Mantiq al-tayr): it consists of parts of the prologue, setting the scene of the journey of the birds, and then some stories from different parts of the poem, with two extracts from the Valleys that the birds have to pass through. The translations are taken from that of Dick Davies and Afkham Darbandi (Penguin Books, 1984)
