A Chapel, a Novel, and the Word of God. Virginia Brookes
This essay attempts to portray two artefacts, the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Oxford, and the novel Adam Bede by George Eliot. These two very different objects will be considered in the light of one another and connections will be sought to bring the two together where possible. The connecting link may only be in Methodism itself, but other connections will be sought where possible.
