Hofling et al.'s (1966) Study of Obedience on SimplyPysychology
Summary of Hofling et al.'s (1966) hospital study of obedience, as presented on the SimplyPsychology site by Saul McLeod, a Psychology Lecturer at Wigan & Leigh College.
This study was conducted in response to criticism towards Milgram's (1962/3) studies using obedience to administering electric shocks under laboratory conditions.
Hofling et al. attempted to conduct a more realistic, field study of obedience. The aim, method, results, conclusion and an evaluation of the study are presented in simple terms.
