STUART & REVETT: THE ANTIQUITIES OF ATHENS
The English architects James Stuart and Nicholas Revett visited Athens from 1751 to 1753 and, nine years later, published the first volume of The Antiquities of Athens, which is considered the first accurate survey of classical Greek architecture. Five works were reviewed that exemplify the Greek Orders, and this link takes to to a website where you can explore the book and the monuments.
