Odysseus and Ithaca

The Roman Emperor Tiberius was obsessed with Greek mythology and seems to have had a special affinity for Odysseus. This lecture, delivered aboard m.v. Minerva for Swan Hellenic Cruises, takes an overview of Odysseus' travels as narrated in Homer's Odyssey, and sketches in some of the mythological background to the sculptural programme of the imperial villa at Sperlonga.
